Horizon Zero Dawn PC Port is a Broken Mess

Wildly different experiences for PC users frustrated by an inconsistent release.

Horizon Zero Dawn may be a great game to play on a PS4, but PC players are experiencing what happens when a developer chucks out a port when it’s clearly not ready for the big time.

Steam’s user reviews tell the story, with many irate would-be players whinging about crashes and shockingly bad frame rates, among other beefs.

The situation is bad enough that developer Guerrilla released a statement, saying “we are investing your reports as our highest priority…we appreciate those who have already taken the time to report their issues on Steam, Reddit, or via our website. If you are still encountering crashes or bugs, please continue to use those spaces, or refer to our FAQ if you are unsure of how to proceed. Your reports are, and have already been, incredibly helpful for our teams.”

We reckon Guerilla should get a wiggle one when it comes to fixing this, as even systems with identical components seem to have completely different experiences when it comes to the game’s performance. Bloody weird we must say, and probably not the work of a moment to fix.

And who said consoles were just crappy PCs in little plastic boxes? There must be some dodgy custom PS4 code that made this transition so clumsy. So crappy wannabe PCs in little plastic boxes then…
