How Artificial Intelligence Will Impact the Future of PC Gaming in 2023

Since the beginning of 2023, a new wave of technology has emerged which threatens to completely change how we interact on a day-to-day basis.

Artificial intelligence was considered the next big step for society and we are getting a glimpse into the potential of what it can do. Many sectors could be shaped by it but one of the most obvious industries that will benefit from the technology is gaming, in particular, PC gaming.

AI is already used within the gaming world but this wave of improvement will add so much more depth.

Improved Game Design

With the ability of artificial intelligence, developers are able to create immersive worlds filled with rich depth. By utilising these algorithms vast more realistic environments can be rendered, intelligent non-playable characters can be created and more dynamic gameplay elements can be utilised.

By using AI, it gives developers the ability to create a more unique experience and allows them to focus on other elements rather than being preoccupied with manual-level design. By analysing the behaviour of its PC players, it can give developers insights into personal preferences so they will be able to fine-tune a more challenging experience.

Enhanced Player Experiences

PC  games can be enhanced with the help of AI which will lead to a better player experience. This is accomplished by the algorithm noting a player’s preference and decisions allowing designers to create games that are geared towards the interests of the user.

AI can change the mechanics of a particular game for the needs of a player. This allows AI to dynamically adjust difficulty levels, challenges, and rewards based on each player’s individual performance. Players can then enjoy the game more as a result, as the game adjusts to their skills and preferences.

The best example of this can be found in the online gambling industry where you can choose from a wide variety of games to suit all players. On Buzz Bingo, online live bingo is available to play all day and it comes in many different forms.  “Double Bubble” and “Odds and Even” bingo are available in the afternoon while “Bargain Bingo” can be played in the evening.

Rise of AI-Powered Opponents

The most prominent example of how machine learning has created more challenging opponents can be found in chess, all the way back in the mid-90s. The world number one at the time, Gary Kasparov, famously battled ‘Deep Blue’ an AI-powered chess computer and introduced many to the power of machine learning opponents.

AI has since evolved far past the capabilities of any chess player and is solely responsible for the improvement of modern grandmasters who play and learn from it. This will be the same in PC gaming and will lead to a game suited specifically for every individual player to slowly improve.

Whether perceived as good or bad, the implementation of AI will inevitably impact our lives on a day-to-day basis and as we will see in the online gambling industry, can change it for the better.
