VALORANT Champions Shanghai has produced a clean sweep for the Americas region so far, with all four of its representatives winning their opening group-stage matches without dropping a map. G2 Esports, NRG, LOUD and 100 Thieves all recorded 2-0 series victories, meaning each side now sits one win away from a direct playoffs berth rather than facing a longer route through the lower bracket.
G2 Esports began the run by beating TYLOO 2-0, edging a tied first half on Lotus before closing it out 13-6 and then taking Sunset 13-3. Trent finished the series with 38 kills, 17 deaths and 20 assists, alongside 287 ACS, 174 ADR and a 91 percent KAST rate, while Valyn and BABYBAY both posted 24 or more kills.
NRG, the reigning champions, opened their title defence with a 2-0 win over Masters Santiago champions Nongshim RedForce, taking Lotus 13-5 before sealing the series without needing a third map. Mada, who had recently recovered from a wrist injury, led NRG with 34 kills, 23 deaths and 16 assists for a plus-11 kill differential, with brawk and keiko each contributing 32 kills.
LOUD swept EDward Gaming 2-0, closing out the series on Summit 13-5. Tkzin was the standout performer, recording three aces across the two maps – described as a record for a player’s debut at VALORANT Champions – and finishing with 47 kills, 24 deaths and 7 assists on 321 ACS and 208 ADR.
100 Thieves faced the toughest test of the four, beating T1 2-0 after taking T1’s own map pick of Summit 13-8 and then closing out Ascent 13-9. Cryocells led the way with 45 kills, 23 deaths and 6 assists, backed by 283 ACS, 169 ADR and 86 percent KAST, while Asuna added 22 kills on Ascent alone.
The four results are spread across all four groups, with 100 Thieves in Group A, LOUD in Group B, G2 in Group C and NRG in Group D. For 100 Thieves, the win over T1 continues momentum from its Americas Stage 2 title run and pushes T1 into an elimination match instead. According to Esports Insider, the results feed into the wider debate over which region is setting the pace at this year’s championship, given the strength of the Americas seeding heading into Shanghai.
All four Americas teams now move into winners’ matches, where victory would confirm a direct playoffs place. 100 Thieves face FUT Esports in Group A, while LOUD meet Team Vitality in Group B. NRG take on Karmine Corp in Group D, and G2 face Paper Rex in Group C. A win in any of those four matches would lock in the winning side’s spot in the VALORANT Champions Shanghai playoffs bracket.
