T1 and LOUD claimed the last two playoff places at VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026 on Sunday 4 October. Both won their deciding group-stage series 2-0. For T1, it is the first time the South Korean organisation has reached the Champions top eight, at its third appearance at the event.
T1 overcame FUT Esports by identical scorelines. They took Sunset 13-10 and then Ascent 13-10. Ham “iZu” Woo-ju was picked out for an especially strong showing across the series. FUT leave the tournament at the group stage.
LOUD’s win over Global Esports followed a similar pattern on the scoreboard but looked different in the detail. According to Sheep Esports, the Brazilian side were locked in a tight first half on Split before stringing together eight straight rounds on attack to close the map 13-8. On Sunset they surged into a 9-3 lead and protected it to finish 13-9. In-game leader Roberto “erde” Lobos was at the centre of LOUD’s performance.
The results ended the group stage. Global Esports are out.
The finished bracket leans heavily towards the Americas, which got all four of its representatives through: 100 Thieves, NRG, G2 Esports and LOUD. Pacific has three teams in the knockouts, with T1 joined by Paper Rex and Nongshim RedForce. EMEA is left with a single flag-bearer in Team Vitality.
That split gives the playoffs an immediate Brazil-versus-Pacific flavour. LOUD’s reward for reaching the top eight is an opening tie against Paper Rex, one of the most recognisable sides in the Pacific region. T1 also face a Pacific-region opponent in their first knockout match.
For T1, simply getting this far changes the story of their Champions record. Two previous trips to the event ended before the playoffs; this time the squad have at least eight teams’ worth of company left in the race for the title, and a guaranteed top-eight finish already banked.
Vitality, meanwhile, carry EMEA’s hopes alone after the region failed to get a second team into the bracket. With only 1 of 8 playoff places, Europe’s showing in Shanghai contrasts sharply with the Americas’ clean sweep of qualification.
The knockout stage begins with eight teams still alive and LOUD against Paper Rex among the first matches on the schedule.
