5 Tips for New Animal Crossing Players

This year, more people are playing games than ever before.

From sports and bingo games to animation and fantasy, everybody is looking for ways to keep themselves entertained during lockdown.

One game that has made a comeback in 2020 is Animal Crossing. The new Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released in March for the Nintendo Switch and players cannot get enough. You can escape from the stresses of everyday life and enjoy building a community through this game. We have some tips for new players.

The Game Follows Real-Life Days

If you have never played any Animal Crossing games before, you may not realize that it follows real-time. This means that it is a slow and steady game. You cannot rush any of the activities and you have to be patient to progress. Make sure that you check-in at different points of the day to play. In addition, the seasons follow the real ones and will bring you different adventures and things to collect.

Watch Out for Balloons and Bottles

On your travels around with your character, you may notice some items lying around. This can include balloons and bottles washing up on the beach. Make sure that you do not ignore them. You will be able to read a letter from someone and they can leave you a crafting recipe. You can use this to sell or give to another islander. In addition, balloons can have presents attached to them.

Be Cautious About Using the Drop Box at Nook’s Cranny

If you want to make quick money, you may be looking for a fast way to sell stuff. This is where the drop box outside Nook’s Cranny comes in handy. You can simply drop your items here to sell them when the shop is closed. But it is important to know that you will only receive 80 percent of the full price of the item when you do this. Plus, you will have to wait until the next day for the money. Sometimes, it is going to be best to wait for a better opportunity.

Avoid Passing Out with a Bug Net

In the early days when you first start playing Animal Crossing, you will be walking around the island shaking trees. This is before you can build an axe. But beware that there can be wasp nets in the trees. If you get stung by one, you will pass out and this can affect your activities. To avoid this from happening, make sure that you are holding your bug net. This is going to stop getting stung and give you the chance to catch spiders and creepy-crawleys.

Chat to Other Villagers

You will begin to notice that you are not the only villager around. Invest time in getting to know your neighbours. When you are good friends with them, they will not leave the island. Plus, you can benefit from talking to them often. This can include them giving you gifts and if you help them with tasks, they can reward you.
