OG beat LEGION 2-0 in the upper bracket final of the DreamLeague Western Europe Closed Qualifier for season 30 on Friday 16 October. The 41-minute opener was the longer of the two games. The second took 32 minutes, and it rounded off a third straight clean sweep for the side ranked 18th in the Elo power rankings.
The gap on paper was clear before a hero was picked. OG carry a rating of 1778 from 257 rated matches. LEGION came into the playoffs unranked.
Six games won, none lost for OG in the qualifier
OG’s route to the upper final reads like a set of identical scorelines. They opened with a 2-0 win over potn9ki in Upper Bracket Quarterfinal 3, then handled Team Synapse by the same margin in the second semi-final. LEGION were the third victims.
That makes six games won and none lost across the event. It also continues a recovery from OG’s last outing at BLAST Slam Season 8. There, they beat MOUZ 2-0 and BetBoom Team 2-1 before losing 1-2 to 1win.
Their overall rated record remains below even, at 119-138. In this qualifier, though, nobody has taken a game off them.
LEGION’s five-match streak stops at OG
LEGION arrived with momentum of their own. They had won five series in a row before Friday, three of them in the PARI Universe Closed Qualifier: 2-0 against MOUZ, 2-0 against Team Synapse and 3-1 against Blasterbl.
They carried that form into this event. PuckChamp fell 2-0 in Upper Bracket Quarterfinal 2, and Team Lynx went down by the same score in the first semi-final. The defeat to OG was the first series LEGION had lost in that run.
Both of OG’s and LEGION’s semi-final opponents have had mixed fortunes since. Team Lynx recovered to beat potn9ki 2-0 in the second lower bracket quarterfinal. Team Synapse were less fortunate, edged 2-1 by Dawn Bulls in the first.
Dawn Bulls keep winning the close ones
Dawn Bulls have become the qualifier’s three-game specialists. They first squeezed past PuckChamp 2-1 in Lower Bracket Round 1, then repeated that scoreline against Team Synapse. Two deciders, two wins.
Team Synapse’s exit from contention came after they had started brightly, beating White Sails 2-0 in Upper Bracket Quarterfinal 4 before running into OG. The qualifier is scheduled to finish on 17 October.
1win rematch waits for OG at PARI Universe
OG’s next fixture is already set, and it offers a chance at revenge. They face 1win at PARI Universe 2026 on Friday 23 October, a week after this win. 1win were the side that beat OG 2-1 at BLAST Slam Season 8, the last series OG lost.
