Any Questions Gaming needed only two maps on Wednesday 21 October to get their VCT Threshold China 2026 campaign moving. Their Round 1 Match 4 meeting with World Sports Invictus Gaming was a best of three. It never reached a decider.
AQ take a 48-minute opener and a 66-minute second map
The first map went to Any Questions Gaming after 48 minutes. The second was a much longer affair, running to 66 minutes before AQ closed it out and sealed the series.
World Sports Invictus Gaming left without a map. That matches their previous outing: their last result before this event was a 0-2 defeat to TEC Esports in China Evolution Series Act 1 2026. Across those two series they have now dropped four maps without reply.
On paper this was the expected outcome. Any Questions Gaming sit 157th in the Elo power rankings with a rating of 1521 and an 8-8 record from 16 rated matches. World Sports Invictus Gaming are unranked.
Two straight series wins since the FunPlus Phoenix defeat
AQ arrived from China Evolution Series Act 3 2026, where their recent results included 2-0 wins over Dragon Ranger Gaming and JD Gaming. A 1-2 loss to FunPlus Phoenix followed, before they bounced back with a 3-0 win over Unsettled Resentment.
This sweep makes it two series wins in a row. Their last defeat by a two-map margin came in Act 2, a 0-2 loss to Trace Esports.
Elsewhere in the opening round, Wolves Esports beat A Team 2-0 in Round 1 Match 3, another series settled without a third map.
Nova Esports next for AQ on Thursday 22 October
There is little time to dwell on the win. Any Questions Gaming return on Thursday 22 October against Nova Esports, with VCT Threshold China 2026 running until 1 November.
For World Sports Invictus Gaming, the task is simpler to describe than to solve. They still need a first map win in this event.
