BetBoom Team beat Nemiga 2-0 on Sunday 25 October in Round 2 of the PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 group stage. The result was a clear upset on paper. Nemiga arrived as the number 2 side in the Elo power rankings, while BetBoom Team sat at rank 20.
The best-of-3 never reached a deciding map. BetBoom Team closed out the opener in 34 minutes, then needed 52 minutes to finish off the second and seal the series.
Rank 20 beats rank 2 in Bucharest
The gap between the sides looked wide before a shot was fired. Nemiga carried a rating of 1904 and a record of 95-46 across 141 rated matches. BetBoom Team, rated 1794, had gone 63-30 in 93 rated matches.
None of that showed on the server. The quick opening map handed BetBoom Team control, and the longer second map ended the same way.
Nemiga had started the event well. They beat Legacy 2-0 in Round 1, adding to a mixed run beforehand that included a win over Lavked and a defeat by Iberian Soul at CCT Europe Series #10 2026, plus a 1-3 loss to Astralis and a win over Luminosity in Stake Ranked Episode 4 2026.
BetBoom Team’s run since the Thunderpick World Championship
This was BetBoom Team’s second win in Bucharest. They opened the event by edging Spirit 2-1 in Round 1, and have now won every series they have played at the event.
That follows a strong showing at the Thunderpick World Championship 2026, where they beat PARIVISION, Legacy and Team Falcons, each by 2-1, before falling 2-3 to FURIA. Tight series have been a habit. Against Nemiga, BetBoom Team did not need a third map at all.
Natus Vincere wait on Monday 26 October
Elsewhere in Round 2, Natus Vincere beat FURIA 2-0, Aurora Gaming beat G2 by the same score, and Vitality saw off TheMongolz without dropping a map. MOUZ beat 9z 2-0, FUT Esports beat Liquid 2-0 and Legacy recovered from their opening defeat to beat DENDELE CS 2-0.
Every Round 2 series in Bucharest so far has finished without a third map. BetBoom Team were part of that pattern, and their reward is a meeting with Natus Vincere, who also arrive unbeaten in the round after dispatching FURIA.
The event runs from 24 October to 31 October. BetBoom Team face Natus Vincere on Monday 26 October.
