FURIA beat Aurora Gaming 2-0 on Saturday 17 October in the first semi-final of the Thunderpick World Championship 2026. The win sends them into the final on Sunday 18 October against BetBoom Team. The opening map lasted 44 minutes and the second ran to 61.
Rank 11 FURIA overturn the Elo order against Aurora
On the Elo power rankings, Aurora went in as the higher-rated side. They sat 10th on 1836, while FURIA were 11th on 1823. A 13-point gap is narrow. Even so, the lower-rated team won without dropping a map.
Aurora had also taken the most recent meeting between the two, a 2-1 win in ESL Pro League Season 24 on 6 October. FURIA had won the two before that: 2-1 at the Esports World Cup 2026 on 19 August and 2-0 at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 on 20 June. Saturday’s sweep makes it three wins from the last four meetings for FURIA.
Six maps won, one lost: FURIA’s week in this event
The semi-final completed a clean run of series for FURIA at this event. They opened with a 2-0 win over BetBoom Team, beat Legacy 2-1 in the winners’ match and have now dispatched Aurora. That adds up to three series won in a row, with six maps taken and only one conceded.
It is a sharp turnaround from their last outing before the event. In ESL Pro League Season 24, FURIA lost 0-2 to MOUZ.
Aurora took the longer road to the semi-finals. They lost 0-2 to 9z in their first match, then beat NIP 2-0 in the elimination match before getting revenge on 9z with another 2-0 in the decider. Against FURIA, that form did not carry over.
BetBoom Team rematch decides the title on Sunday
BetBoom Team won the second semi-final, beating Team Falcons 2-1. Their route has been built on tight finishes. After losing to FURIA in their opening match, they edged PARIVISION 2-1 in the elimination match and Legacy 2-1 in the decider before the Falcons win, three straight series settled on a third map.
FURIA have already beaten BetBoom 2-0 at this event. The rematch on Sunday 18 October is the final of a tournament that began on 13 October.
