KeepBest Gaming needed only two maps on Thursday 22 October to get past Wolves Esports in the third quarter-final of VCT Threshold China 2026, part of the event’s Week 1 stage. The best-of-three never reached a decider.
Two long maps, one winner
Neither map was quick. The opener ran 47 minutes before KeepBest closed it out, and the second lasted 45 minutes, again ending in their favour. Wolves were kept in both for three quarters of an hour without taking either.
The result matches the power rankings. KeepBest are ranked 200th on the Elo list with a rating of 1480, while Wolves are 250th on 1372. KeepBest’s sample is smaller, though: a 6-10 record across 16 rated matches, against Wolves’ 39-52 from 91.
KeepBest repeat their September win over Wolves
This was not a first meeting. On 3 September, in China Evolution Series Act 3 2026, KeepBest also beat Wolves without dropping a map. Across their two series this autumn, KeepBest have taken every map played between the sides.
KeepBest’s recent form has been mixed. They lost 2-0 to FunPlus Phoenix in VCT China Stage 2 2026, then in Act 3 of the Evolution Series beat Wolves, Bilibili Gaming and Unsettled Resentment without conceding a map. Their last outing before Threshold China was a 3-2 defeat to FunPlus Phoenix.
Wolves arrived in better shape than that September result suggested. They opened this event by sweeping A Team in Round 1 Match 3. Earlier, in VCT China Stage 2 2026, they beat A Team 2-1 but lost 2-1 to both EDward Gaming and Dragon Ranger Gaming.
No series in Threshold China has gone to a third map
One-sided scorelines have been the rule. Dragon Ranger Gaming beat Rare Atom 2-0, Unsettled Resentment did the same to Octagonal Disposition Gaming, and Any Questions Gaming saw off World Sports Invictus Gaming in straight maps. Wolves’ win over A Team fitted that pattern, and so did Thursday’s quarter-final.
Several of those names are familiar to KeepBest. Unsettled Resentment, one of the sides they beat in Act 3, are also through their opening tie here, as are Dragon Ranger Gaming, who beat Wolves in Stage 2. VCT Threshold China 2026 runs until 1 November.
